Combining Criminal Justice & Forensic Psychology

Welcome to my “Career Connections” page, where I explore my career trajectory from its current state to future projections to align better in providing criminal correctional services…

In the Current Role,

Serving as a Correctional Officer 1 with the Colorado Department of Corrections has enabled me to experience complex psychological calls influencing criminal justice delivery among inmates.

But the Criminal Justice degree only equipped me with the foundational knowledge of the legal correctional protocols.

Therefore, I needed to further my education to explore the deeper understanding of the human mind.

Adding Forensic Psychology

As stated, I chose to start pursuing this degree as a result of firsthand experience with the behavioural challenges we witness in the correctional department. Understanding how humans, the inmates, think is thus warranted.

Cognitive patterns and mental health issues directly influence how the inmates will reintegrate into their community at the end of the correctional term.

This degree will hence give me the ability to address the correctional service challenges at root level.

Professional Development Trajectory

I endeavour to gain the most robust competencies to practice more effective inmate handling, safety protocols, and realize optimal correctional outcomes
