The Need For Ethics in Criminal Justice
This ethics page expresses how sound code of ethics is a foundational obligation in the discharge of criminal justice to our communities
I am shaping my career in criminal justice in a unique way by combining criminal justice principles with advanced-level training on the understanding of human psychology. This means my second degree in Forensic Psychology is crucially going to help strike a balance on ethical considerations while putting into consideration all the psychological demands of the offenders.
Justice and Psychology are equally important pillars in my profession. They guide me on ensuring public safety, advocating for offenders’ rights and rehabilitation goals, and fostering professional integrity.
My Ethical Principles In The Criminal Justice Practice
Respect For Persons
Every inmate is entitled to inherent dignity. This requires proper understanding of the offender, their circumstances, and their potential to transform.
Non-Maleficence
It has to be beneficial without inflicting any harm. I strive to inspire positive behavioural change instead of perpetuating physical or psychological dysfunction of the inmate.
Justice & Fairness
I must deliver unbiased treatment of cases at all times. This calls for acknowledging the significance of cultural competency and the impact of socio-economic factors in criminal behaviour
Professional Integrity
I uphold utmost confidentiality, respect boundaries, and foster honest communication with the inmates. Professional integrity builds trust in treatment or rehabilitation systems for criminals.
